However, experts and studies found that on the average, about 10% of the country's population is expected to form or experience a form of cosmetic allergy within their lifetime.

But it would be logical to assert that women are more prone to experience cosmetics allergy than men.

Symptoms of cosmetic allergy

Basically, there are only two major skin reactions that will clearly indicate the onset of cosmetics allergy. These are allergic contact dermatitis and irritant contact dermatitis.

The most common manifestation of allergies from cosmetics is inflammation in the infected skin area. The affected spot would exhibit redness and swelling, and most of the time, those two symptoms are carried out with mild to severe itching.

Basic and primary symptoms for cosmetics dermatitis immediately show up or develop after the skin has taken contact with cosmetic products.

Symptoms for cosmetic allergy occurs when the skin breaks down after contact with identified harsh substances. Upon contact, those substances or allergens immediately and directly affect and injure the skin's outer layer, thus the onset of symptoms.

Like any other form of allergies, cosmetics allergy should not be considered a disease. Rather it is just a normal reaction as the body's protective immune system throws out or rejects foreign and harmful substances.

Treatment of cosmetics allergy

Creams and ointments specifically manufactured to treat cosmetics allergy are available without prescriptions through retailers and drug stores.

Most of these medications contain cortisone in the form of hydrocortisone acetate and hydrocortisone. Cortisones help curtail redness, swelling and itching during the onset of cosmetics allergy symptoms.

In severe cases, doctors prescribe extra-strong medications and ointments that can effectively and immediately relieve the allergy. Antibiotics are needed if blisters in the skin, which is caused by cosmetics allergy, cracks and becomes infected.

How to prevent cosmetics allergy

There are some recommended measures that can help you prevent contracting cosmetics allergy. Take note of the following ways.

- Before using any cosmetic products, read its labels. Look out for active ingredients that can obviously trigger an allergic reaction to your skin. Find products or alternatives that do not contain such ingredients. - Perform mini-patch tests to determine if a new cosmetic product is too strong for your skin. It is done by rubbing your wrist with the products and observing for any redness or recatio within 24 hours. - When buying cosmetics, pick up those that contain very simple cosmetic formulas. - When wearing perfume, apply it on your clothes, not in your skin.

It would do you no harm if you take several precautions to avoid getting cosmetics allergy. Prevention is much better that treatments. Remember, cosmetic allergy, just like any other allergies, is only treatable, not curable.

http://www.allergyanswers.net/

Allergies from Cow’s Milk

If you are feeding your infant with formula and you think it is much better than breast feeding, you should think twice. Aside from the fact that breast milk is best for your infant, there are plenty of medical experts that tell the negative side of dairy for infants. You baby needs your milk more than cow’s milk; remember you are raising a human baby not a calf.

There are many studies that reports about processed cow’s milk. It was linked to plenty of health problems including milk allergies. Almost 50% of the babies in United States are allergic to cow’s milk and others are unidentified.

Dairy products are one among the leading causes of allergies in United States. This is manifested by constipation, diarrhea and fatigue. There are also studies that show that milk allergy can cause asthma and sinusitis.

Studies have proven that babies who are fed with formula secrete low levels of serum antibodies because of the bovine protein present in their formula milk. This happens after three months of formula feeding.

This is why most formula fed infants are most likely to develop milk allergies. Almost 50 – 70% of infants in United States develop rashes and other skin problems. Some develop gastro intestinal problems and respiratory troubles. This is why medical doctor’s recommends avoidance of cow’s milk as much as possible.

So allergies can be prevented by means of avoiding cow’s milk for milk allergic babies. In fact, cow’s milk is not biologically perfect for human consumption. With the studies that shows how formula milks can trigger allergies in later part of a teens life, would you allow your child to suffer from milk allergies?

http://milk-allergy.allergyanswers.net/

Inhalant and Epidermal Allergens: The Cause of Allergy

Inhalants and epidermal allergens are the most common cause of allergies. It causes the itchiness and redness of the skin, red spots on the epidermal area, runny nose, teary eyes, sneezing and wheezing. In more severe cases, it can also be a cause for more serious attacks like asthma and other respiratory problems.

It comes from the food a person eats, furs from animals like birds, dogs and cats, house dust, mites, tree particles and many more. A person will develop the signs and symptoms because of the inhaled allergens. It triggers the production of histamines which is distributed through the cells. When the cells have it, the body will manifest the different signs and symptoms.

The best treatment to avoid an allergic reaction is through staying away from the causative agents. You can do these following guidelines to avoid an allergic attack:

• Cover your pillows with plastic or polyurethane before putting the pillow case on. This will prevent the mites to dwell on them.
• Keep your environment free form dust by cleaning and disinfecting your entire house.
• Put on an air filter to avoid all the outside allergens like tree, dust, smokes, fumes and chemical allergens that can get inside your home.
• Cover your nose when a potential allergen is getting close to you. Avoid direct contact with inhalants and epidermal allergens.
• Consult your doctors about how you can avoid, prevent and control the manifestations of signs and symptoms of allergy.

Follow these guidelines properly and carefully to avoid the attack. Read, research and understand the true origin of your allergy so you will know what to avoid.

http://www.allergyanswers.net/

The 411 on Hypoglycaemia

Hypoglycaemia is a condition where in the glucose level in the blood drops at an amount below 2.5mmol/l. Several symptoms are manifested and lasted for about ten to fifteen minutes after sugar intake.

The Pancreas produces insulin capable of absorbing glucose in the blood. Higher quantity of insulin in the blood causes hypoglycaemic episodes.

Hypoglycaemia have several symptoms manifestations including trembling, paleness, rapid heartbeat, feeling of weakness, perspiration, hunger, difficulty of concentration, agitation, irritability, blurred vision, fatigue, convulsions, temporary loss of consciousness and coma. These symptoms usually occur about three to four hours after a meal.

If these symptoms are obvious then seek medical help to confirm if the cause is a low count of blood glucose because some experts says that hypoglycaemia can occur without a diagnosis of having a low count of blood glucose.

Measure the level of glucose in the blood after observing the symptoms. You should bring the patient to the hospital if the following criteria are present:

- The glucose level in the blood is below 2.5mmol/l or in some cases considerably higher.
- Few or all of the symptoms are being manifested.
- The symptoms disappear after ten minutes prior to sugar intake.

Hypoglycaemia can be prevented through proper exercise and diet. Exercise normally lowers the levels of blood glucose however it will not cause hypoglycaemic episodes in a healthy individual. But if hypoglycaemia is triggered after exercise, you should eat complex food rich in carbohydrates such as pasta or starch.

Hypoglycaemia can be treated with proper dietary changes. Tumors found in the pancreas can be removed but if this is not possible a sandostatin injection is applied. Weaker pituitary glands or adrenal is treated with the right medication.

http://allergyanswers.net/

The Truth about Hives

Hives is a disease that generally appears and lasts for three to four days then can disappear mysteriously. If you have acquired allergic reaction because of these allergens, an individual can have an asthma attack, watery eyes or runny nose. The protein contents in goose triggers the allergy and once it is emerged, the allergy has a tendency to persist.

Asthma symptoms include wheezing, coughing, and a tight chest and difficulty in breathing can be experienced.

Goose allergy can be inherited if both parents have a history of the disease and they have weaker immune systems against goose allergens. Children with weaker immune systems have higher risks of obtaining the disease.

However it can be prevented if you protect them from acquiring allergic reactions and making their immune systems strong, as they tend to grow older.

Goose allergy can trigger other illnesses causing complications that if not easily treated can lead to coughing, weight loss, and breathing difficulties and reduced lung capacity.

If you have observed symptoms of goose allergy, you should avoid exposures from it and immediately consult a doctor or physician for proper medication. You can take a bath to remove residue from direct contacts with a goose.

The patients affected by goose allergy should get information from allergy centers. It affects the small intestine.

Gluten refers to a substance that is found in wheat, barley and rye. This is a cause of damage on the lining of bowels. It brings negative effect because the lining damaged is used to absorb the nutrients and vitamins needed by the body.

The allergy can be detected at any age. However, for children it can easily be diagnosed immediately after they are being introduced to their diets. This is not a typical allergy because if left uncured, it can result to anaemia and other cancerous diseases.

The symptoms of gluten allergy differ from young individuals to older people. The childhood symptoms are manifested by irritableness attitude. The child’s appetite is not also good most of the time, which can lead to weight loss. There is an irregular bowel motion as well and the stool can even smell worse. Vomiting and diarrhea are also effects of having a swollen stomach.

Few of the symptoms for the adults can also be similar but they do not experience any changing effect to their bowels. They are suffering more from psychological failures than the children.

Gluten allergy or Coeliac disease is not preventable. The best thing you can do is to submit yourself into a gluten-free diet to avoid damage to your intestines. Food like bread, biscuits and pastas are rich in gluten. Severe gluten allergy requires you to take steroid and fiber-rich tablets that will damp down the immune system in your body.

What to Know about Food Allergy

Allergies are very common to people with low resistive immune system. This allergy is usually associated with too much exposure to duck feathers, droppings and urine. It has been estimated that about 30 percent of people exposed to some domestic allergies have the chance to develop duck allergy.

Majority of the sufferers of this allergy suffers from its symptoms after 6 months of first exposure to ducks. Because of this, the symptoms mainly occur after ten minutes of being exposed to them. Mainly, the common symptoms of duck allergy can be:

• Itching of the eyes
• Watery eyes
• Sneezing
• Runny nose
• Skin rashes
• Allergic rhinitis

How is it being treated?

Persons with duck allergy can usually take one of these allergy medications:

• Antihistamine
• Brompheniramine
• Corticosteroid
• Cetirizine
• Vitamin C
• Desloratadine

How will you prevent yourself from having a duck allergy?

In order for you to avoid having duck allergy, assign someone to feed the ducks and clean the cages for you because it can generate allergen up to six times. And since allergens are the main cause of the occurrence of symptoms, stop them as early as possible. There are available filters that could help you reduce or lessen the flow of the duck’s allergens.

Duck allergy has very strong allergens. So, you may not be able to know that you have already been exposed until the symptoms occur. Luckily, most babies overcome milk allergies when they reach the age of two or three years. Meanwhile, parents who have babies with cow’s milk allergy can be comforted that though there is no exact cure for this allergy, it can be managed by means of keeping their babies dairy-free.

How will you know if you baby has a cow’s milk allergy?

Babies who have this type of allergy may develop one or more of the below symptoms:

• Skin rash or eczema
• Vomiting
• Cramps or abdominal pain
• Diarrhea or constipation

However, there are some who can develop more serious symptoms such as anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis normally occurs after a minute or two of eating or consuming food which they can be allergic to. Other symptoms can be swelling of mouth, tongue and face.

Now, what will you do if your baby is confirmed to have this allergy?

• Breast feed the baby

Instead of bottle feeding, breast feed you baby. This is typically found in people with the so-called atopic tendency. This simply means that a person may develop any of the related conditions to atopic dermatitis such as asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Aside from the environmental factors (weather and temperature) that may cause atopic dermatitis, this is also believed to be a hereditary disease that runs in the family. It can be transmitted from parents, to children and to siblings. But take note that this is not a contagious disease.

The symptoms of atopic dermatitis vary from different individuals. The very usual manifestations are the following:

• Acute flares with inflamed and reddish blisters.
• Weepy patches
• Chronic eczema
• Thickening and itching of the affected skin
• Recurring sores on the palms and fingers of a person

Professions like hairdressing and farming are constantly exposing individuals to various irritants. This can also be a major cause of atopic dermatitis. Considering your career option is one way to prevent the disease.

Treatment will also depend on the severity of atopic dermatitis. It can be done by any of the following:

• Reduce your exposure to the triggering factors of atopic dermatitis.
• Moisturizers and emollients are also helpful.
• Topical steroids can be applied to the affected area of the skin.

Prevention and immediate treatments are your primary weapons for combating the existence and occurrence of atopic dermatitis.

How to Prevent Asthma Allergy

Asthma is considered as a lung disease. This disease affects the airways in your lungs; these are tubes that are surrounded with muscles. It is where oxygen passes to the lungs. A person with asthma has swollen linings of the airways. When the person’s lung airways are swollen, it allows less oxygen to pass through.

A person with asthma may experience wheezing, coughing, trouble in breathing and chest tightness. Asthma usually attacks during night and early in the morning. Humidity, which is very high during nighttime and early morning, may add to the production of mucus around the airways. Mucus may block the oxygen passing through the airways making it difficult for a person to breath.

The airways reacts or is usually allergic to smoke, dust, pollen and other small particles that may trigger sneezing and coughing. When a person is exposed to these allergens, he may experience an asthma episode. These allergens make the airways more swollen. When the airways in the lungs get irritated, the muscle surrounding it contract, making it even harder for a person affected to breath.

Asthma has no specific cure. However, the attack can be minimized and be controlled and the symptoms can be lowered. The medication and inhalants that are given by the doctors are only a way to reduce the attack and helps the airways to broaden.

Here are simple steps to follow in order to prevent asthma episodes:

1) Follow the medication and the advice of the doctor. Make sure that all medicines and inhalants are properly taken.
2) Do not expose yourself to stressful activities and sports. When the body is at work, it needs more oxygen intake.
3) Refrain from going to places with high level of allergens like carpeted rooms, smoky surrounding, garden with many flowers, etc.

Making sure that you are shielded from the different allergens that may trigger an asthma attack will help you prevent an episode. Also, a regular visit to your doctor is a very precaution. Asthma, when not properly controlled and minimized may cause death.

Aspirin Sensitivity- Not an Allergy?

Have you ever tried taking aspirin to cure your fever? Have you noticed anything after an hour? Some people can get quite alarmed with the symptoms that occur after their intake of aspirin. Can it be considered as a form of allergy?

Aspirin sensitivity is not classified as a true allergy; however, some of the signs and symptoms manifested are just like the allergic-type reactions that can be seen from predisposed individuals.

You are likely to be prone from aspirin sensitivity if you have asthma and chronic sinusitis. Advance ages and the severity of certain diseases increase the pervasiveness of aspirin sensitivity.

Adverse reaction and symptoms manifested in individuals with aspirin sensitivity are:

• Common skin reactions like itching and irritation.
• Congestion of the nose and the persistence of sinusitis.
• Itchy and watery eyes that are connected to ocular reactions.
• Grasping and difficulty of breathing
• In some instances, there is the presence of anaphylaxis, though it is based on very rare cases.

People with aspirin sensitivity should avoid anti-inflammatory drugs that include aspirin and ibuprofen. You can check for the ingredients list if you want to know the aspirin content of the medicine.

For further treatment, you can consult your physician regarding the alternative medicines that you can take rather than using aspirin. Certain tests to determine your level of tolerance and sensitivity to aspirin medicines are also necessary.

Although, it is not considered as an allergy, precautionary measures must be done because if it is left untreated, it can lead to aggravated allergic-reaction.

The Risks and Prevention behind Angiodema

Angiodema is short for angioneurotic edema. This is a type of skin disease that develops signs and symptoms that are similar to hives. The only difference is that, the swelling is found beneath the surface of the skin. Swelling is often referred to welts that appear on the eyes, lips, hands, throat and feet.

The usual cause of Angiodema is allergic reaction to particular substances. It is coupled with the discharge of histamine and some chemicals to the bloodstream. The histamine is the determinant if there is a foreign substance attacking the system called an allergen.

Angiodema is caused by certain items such as:

• Medicines and medication
• Foods like fish, peanuts, berries and others
• Pollen
• Animal dander
• Emotional and Psychological stress
• Insect bite

If you are suffering from Angiodema, you will undergo some of the major signs and symptoms like the development of red welts, swollen eyes and mouth, grasping for breathing, swelling of the lining of the eyes and abdominal cramping. The welts that suddenly developed are also itchy and painful.

After being identified that you have this type of skin disease, you can take treatments as prescribed by your doctors. Most of the medications are comprised of antihistamine, adrenaline, sedatives and tranquilizers.

If you want to get rid of Angiodema, there is a call for you to do some preventive steps as early as possible. First is to identify the allergens causing Angiodema and second is to reduce your exposure to the causes.

Anaphylaxis is Not a Matter of Choice but Prevention

Nobody wants to be inflicted with any types of disease.
